The construction and operation of the space station is the “three-step” development goal of China’s manned-spacecraft project. After the completion of the construction, China’s space station is planned to operate in orbit for more than 10 years. How to make full use of the space station has strategic significance. This paper analyzes the actual demand of the application projects during the operation of the space station, aiming at improving its on-orbit application supportability. The authors also intend to build an application mode of the co-orbital motion for the space station “space home port”, and establish the flight mode providing continuous space application support and on-orbit service support during the long-term on-orbit operation of the space station, so as to seize the opportunities and meet the challenges faced by China’s space application mode. Towards the future development, it is essential to actively explore the application of space station, and put forward reasonable suggestions on the development planning of key technologies, so that China’s space station can serve the national strategy and national economy and play a significant role in the field of science and economics.
