REN Shuai, JI Yuanchao, WANG Dong, WANG Yu, ZHAO Xinqing, REN Xiaobing
Abstract60)   HTML4)    PDF (3016KB)(92)

The development of innovative intelligent technologies in cutting-edge fields such as aerospace, autonomous driving, unmanned aerial vehicles, robotics, artificial perception, and advanced medical applications has imposed significant demands on the high performance of ferroic smart materials. However, conventional ferroic smart materials based on Landau theory of phase transition exhibit performance limitations rooted in their fundamental physics, rendering further breakthroughs challenging. In recent years, the discovery and development of strain glass have provided new opportunities for overcoming these constraints of ferroic smart materials and achieving revolutionary performance enhancements. This review presented recent research progress in strain glass ferroic smart materials and provided forward-looking perspectives and recommendations for the future development of this novel ferroic smart material. It offered insights to maintain China’s leading position in fundamental research on ferroic smart materials and propel leapfrogging development in industrial applications.

Road Traffic Control Systems: Advances and Prospects
ZHAO Xiangmo, MA Wanjing, YU Chunhui, SU Zicheng
Abstract508)   HTML24)    PDF (1275KB)(656)

The road traffic control system is a core method of regulating traffic flow to alleviate congestion, enhance operational efficiency, and promote energy saving and emission reduction. It has evolved from manual control to intelligent control driven by fixed detector data and connected vehicle data. This paper summarizes and analyzes the key technical characteristics of road traffic control, systematically reviews the development of four generations of road traffic control systems in China and abroad. Considering China’s national conditions and practical needs, this paper analyzes the development needs and challenges of China’s road traffic control system from three aspects: strategy of a strong transportation country, independent innovation of traffic control, and development of traffic control technology. It puts forward three development suggestions, namely, independent innovation of key system technologies, breakthroughs of interactive technologies of vehicle intelligence and travel service informatization, and promotion of standardization and normalization of system R&D and application. These help build traffic control systems with independent intellectual property rights, promote the self-reliance of intelligent transportation and its related industries, and support the construction of a strong transportation country.

Abstract674)   HTML42)    PDF (40380KB)(887)

The North and South Poles are the cold sources of the earth system, which can regulate the global energy balance and have rich energy and resources. They are vital to the national security and sustainable development of China. Remote sensing is an important technology to observe the polar regions due to the vast area and extremely harsh environment. This paper summarizes the situation and trends in international polar remote sensing technologies as well as the status quo of China’s polar satellites and airborne remote sensing technologies. On this basis, it puts forward proposals for the construction and development of China’s airborne and space-based remote sensing systems for the tridimensional monitoring and measurement of polar regions. The further considerations include high elliptical orbit satellites, integrated communications and navigation applications satellite and long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicles. The construction of platforms for all-time polar monitoring. They will provide important technical support for the development of Arctic shipping routes and research on polar climate change.

Rich and Profound Space Spirit and Its Strength
ZHAO Xiaojin
Abstract349)   HTML37)    PDF (1173KB)(738)

As a spiritual treasure of the Chinese nation and an important part of the inspiring principles for the Chinese Communists, the rich and profound space spirit contains tremendous and continuous spiritual strength. It is permeated with the core traits such as patriotism, dedication, self-reliance, and self-improvement, which develops from the spirit of atomic and hydrogen bombs, missiles, and man-made satellites as well as the spirit of manned spaceflight to the spirit of lunar exploration and the spirit of Beidou navigation in the new era. The space spirit, with its deeply-rooted origin, is forged by the people in practice, and it has reached broad consensuses and exerted far-reaching influence with the endorsement and vigorous advocation by the CPC Central Committee. In the continuous enrichment, it is transformed into the achievements of the space industry by practice, is connected into a spiritual system that bridges the past and future and keeps pace with the times across time and space, and leads the mainstream value of society. The rich and profound space spirit and its strength provide us with great enlightenment: We must adhere to the strong leadership of the CPC, stay true to our original aspiration, and be determined to serve the country. We must boost our ambition, integrity, and assurance with firm self-confidence, self-strength, and self-reliance. We must properly use Wuli-Shili-Renli (WSR) system approach and respect knowledge and talents. We must grasp the laws and trends of development, seize the mainstream of current times, and embrace the world. Guided by the rich and profound space spirit, the dream of building China’s strength in space will come true in the future.

Abstract1163)   HTML114)    PDF (2056KB)(3135)

By reviewing the development of satellite navigation systems in China and other countries, this paper discusses the technical characteristics and indexes of the systems. It focuses on spatial constellation, space-time datum, navigation signal, navigation augmentation, and multi-function integration from the perspectives of technical approach and system service. In addition to systemically introducing the present status of satellite navigation systems and their technical innovation during development, the paper also provides an outlook on their development trend and related key technologies. This review can support the construction of satellite navigation systems and positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) systems in China.
