Concrete serves as one of the primary engineering materials for building construction and infrastructure development. Concrete pipeline pumping represents a critical link in civil construction. In light of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, as well as the ongoing transition towards intelligent construction, concrete pipeline pumping encounters novel challenges. This article systematically analyzed both engineering practices and research endeavors pertaining to concrete pipeline pumping. According to the development trends of concrete materials, pipeline pumping equipment, and technologies, the article summarized the challenges faced by concrete pipeline pumping. Furthermore, the article offers four strategic development suggestions, including enhancing theoretical research into concrete rheology, expediting research developments on pumping technology of new concrete material, encouraging innovations of disruptive pipeline pumping technology, and promoting the integration of concrete pumping and smart construction technologies.
