Liquid metal frontier materials have triggered disruptive technological breakthroughs in chip cooling, electronics manufacturing, biomedicine, and flexible robots, promoting the formation and development of a series of emerging industrial fields with significant application value and bringing new vigor to the creation of a large number of high-tech products. This review summarized the development history and trend of liquid metal frontier materials in China and abroad, described the advantages that China has achieved in the field of liquid metal, analyzed the direction of future plans from the aspects of creation and innovative application of liquid metal materials, and finally put forward suggestions for the frontier research and industrial development of liquid metal.
